Life At Jordans

Interview with Rachel Marston - Press Officer

What is your name?

Rachel Marston

What is your job title?

Press Officer

What does your job entail?

Where do I begin? I talk to journalists about why Jordans is so great, set up interviews, work on the website, work on setting up links with other lovely brands, like Emma Bridgewater, work on photo shoots, the list goes on and on.

How long have you worked at Jordans?

Just over two years

Where did you work before you came to Jordans?

In magazines, I was a journalist previously. I came to Jordans to interview Bill and fell in love with the place, they had to fend me off when I heard there was a job going here.

What other jobs have you done at Jordans?

So far just Press Officer.

Why do you like working for Jordans?

I like working for a family business, I spend a lot of time working on projects for Bill which is great. I love the fact that rather than buy a yacht like other wealthy businessmen he decided to invest in his own nature reserve instead.

What is your favourite product we make?

I confess to being a serious muesli addict, I love our Nut and Seed and Organic, but I like the new Fruity Fibre muesli too so it’s hard to choose between them sometimes, tough life choosing between muesli’s!

What makes Jordans different to other cereal manufacturers?

I love the fact that we know the farmers who grow cereals for us, any time I get the chance I go and visit Rob Law, he is only a few miles away and his farm is like an oasis so it’s good to go and breathe fresh air.

What other products do you think we could/should make?

I like what we are doing, but my sister is forever on at me about making kids cereals that are not full of sugar so maybe we could look at that.

What makes you proud of working for Jordans?

The Jordans brothers really believe in what they stand for

Tell me something funny/quirky/unusual about Jordans?

I sometimes take Bill’s dog out for a walk at lunchtime, he is almost as hairy as my cat so I feel at home.

Have you ever been to Bill Jordan's nature reserve, Pensthorpe?

Many times

Did you enjoy it and why?

Loved it, I love ducks so I was in my element.
