Life At Jordans
Interview with Jodie Soussan - Head of Category
What is your name?
Jodie Soussan
What is your job title?
Head of Category
What does your job entail?
It is my job to gather a deep understanding of our shoppers and food they buy. The category team work closely with the Marketing and Sales teams to ensure our business strategy builds value for our shoppers and the retailers we supply.
How long have you worked at Jordans?
Just over 3 months, although I definitely feel part of the furniture now.
Where did you work before you came to Jordans?
Procter & Gamble
What other jobs have you done at Jordans?
None, this is the first of many, I hope.
What else would you like to do at Jordans?
In the future I’d like to work back in Sales, and get on to more new product tasting teams.
Why do you like working for Jordans?
Where do I start? Everyone here is 100% focused on pleasing the people who buy our products. We work really hard to make natural, wholesome breakfast cereals and cereal bars, good for the body and soul. What sets Jordans apart is their care for the environment and commitment to improving British wildlife through Conservation Grade™, our nature friendly farming scheme.
What is your favourite product we make?
I think it has to be our Frusli Red Berry bars. I keep them in my desk, in my car and in my handbag to help me resist less healthy temptations. However, I couldn’t start the day without a bowl of our porridge to set me on the right track for my day.
What makes Jordans different to other cereal manufacturers?
Delicious tasting wholesome products made with love and care for the land on which they’re grown and for the customers we strive to please on a daily basis.
What other products do you think we could/should make?
I think we should only look to extend our range where we can use our expertise and can continue to support British farmers.
What makes you proud of working for Jordans?
I think it’s amazing that what Bill and David Jordan set about to do so many years ago has evolved into a thriving business, producing great products with great care for the environment.
Tell me something funny/quirky/unusual about Jordans?
Bill and David are still very much involved in the business, but Bill’s big Alsatian dog Louis is also a regular fixture in the office too which was a surprise encounter! He is very friendly and of course stays well away from any food.
Have you ever been to Bill Jordan's nature reserve, Pensthorpe?
No not yet.
Would you like to go?
Very soon hopefully, and I’ve got a list of friends who want to come with me too.
