A city with two names - John visits Vietnam in search of coconuts

Posted by Jordans Cereals 22 Oct 2008 1:41pm

I managed to negotiate the shoe X-ray machine at Heathrow and to convince myself to let my luggage vanish into the hold. There have been many times when my suitcase and I have ended up in different destinations so I am suspicious about letting it out of my sight.
I purchased a great book about the history of the pineapple at the airport, but somehow mislaid it as i wandered around the terminal which was not very helpful.
I am now in Vietnam preparing to start a tour looking for new coconut and cashew nut suppliers. This is my first visit to Vietnam and I am currently staying in Ho Chi Min City. Bizarrely, the first I noticed is that the airline company are still calling it Saigon, so it seems this is a city with two names.
I had an interesting ferry ride across the Mekong river and am looking forward to getting out and seeing the crops over the next few days. I will stay in touch to keep you updated. Find out more about what John does for Jordans here.
