Inside Jordans
Once Upon A Time
It began in the summer of '69

One morning in 1969, Bill picked up a spoon and tucked into a bowl of Granola. He’d never tasted such a delicious combination of toasted oats and honey before - and was soon hooked by the growing ‘whole foods’ movement.
His years of travelling through France and California and playing in a rock & blues band finally came to an end. Back at his family’s flour mill in Biggleswade, he persuaded his brother David to work with him to– produce deliciously wholesome breakfast cereals in a way that was as good for the countryside as it was for the people who ate it.
By 1972, Jordans was born. Their first organic wholegrain breakfast cereal was called ‘Crunchy G’ and became a hit, despite the trend at the time for highly processed foods.

I started eating Jordan's cereals as soon as they came on the market in the early 70s. I'd just moved to London and had a job in advertising quite near Cranks Health Foods in Marshall Street, W1. As an 18 year old I wanted to leave all things from my provincial home behind including cooked breakfasts, and Jordan's granola seemed a really sophisticated 'London' choice to me then!
The only problem with Jordan's Crunch is that it doesn't last. Other cereals seem to be around until they've gone soft but the box of Jordans still looks new when the contents have "disappeared".
Hi I have always been familiar with Holme Mill originating from Stotfold and having spent my Grammer School years in the 70's at Stratton Biggleswade. It's good to see that you are going from "Strength to Strength" long may Jordans continue!!!
One look at those 2 men and it just makes me want to eat the cerial every morning. what a couple of hunks. wow
I have a particular interest in the history of Jordans site. I lived in Henlow until 1977 and then Biggleswade. I stood on the bridge looking at the site on my wedding day in July 1977. It is good to learn how businesses and particular brands came to be.
