Make Mothers' Day Marvellous

Posted by Rachel Marston 10 Mar 2009 12:28pm

We think mum's are very special people, and with Mothers' day looming on the 22nd March we thought we should think about some ideas on how to make your mum feel loved. Bear in mind that different countries seem to celebrate their version of Mothers' Day on a different date so if you are reading this but are not in the UK you need to swat up on when you should be making en effort for your mum, or risk facing her wrath.

* Mothers' Day should be a day of relaxing for mums who tend to spend their time chasing after their offspring. Try to do the tasks she would do for you for the day, start off by making your mum breakfast, you could try our lovely Dark Chocolate Country Crisp Muffins.

* Take your mum for lunch, or make her lunch at home so that she can relax and enjoy the day. Invite as many of the family, and friends so that your mum gets a chance to catch up with her nearest and dearest.

* Alternatively you could invite your mum's friends round for afternoon tea, complete with cucumber sandwiches and little cakes.

* Maybe you could take your mum out for the day to somewhere she has always wanted to go, or maybe just take her for a walk in the local park. Spring flowers and blossom will be out in all their glory so if the weather is fine make the most of getting outdoors.

* If a spa treatment is out of the question then maybe your mum would appreciate a manicure or another beauty treatment she might not feel able to treat herself to normally.

* Bake your mum a cake, or have a look at our recipes for other tasty baking ideas.

* Take your mum to the cinema, or rent her favourite film on DVD, everyone needs to escape from reality every once in a while and a film is the perfect answer.

* Get a favourite family photo framed, it will last longer than a bunch of flowers or a box of chocolates.

* Don't forget granny, she is a mum too remember.
