Being Nature Friendly

Give a Bee a Home

Posted by Rachel Marston 29 Apr 2009 11:29am

If, like us, you have a soft spot for bees and have heard a lot about their declining numbers then you may well have taken more of an interest in 'bee spotting'. Since working on The Big Buzz I now have a good look for bees whenever I am out and about. Much of the news about bee numbers has focussed on honey bees but other bees are also in trouble. But being no expert in bees I was not very good at identifying them, then I came across a 'Bee ID' guide on The Bumblebee Conservation Trust's website. You can look at the guide online or download a copy to take with you in into the garden. Also on their website you can find out more about how to make your garden more bumblebee friendly and even take part in their nest box trial which has several different ideas of how to build a bumblebee nest in your garden.
