Inside Jordans

Being Nature Friendly

Tractors and Trailers

Posted by Rachel Marston 22 May 2009 9:56am

Yesterday a few of us took some time out of eating cereal and went out into the depths of the Hertfordshire countryside to visit Rob Law, one of our long established nature-friendly Conservation Grade® farmers. You might recognise Rob, the farmer in our recent Country Crisp TV ad was based on him. Rob has been growing nature-friendly cereals for us for over twenty years so he is a bit on an expert. With us were also Brin Hughes, our Agri Environment Advisor and Tim Nevard, Head of Sustainable Business, who talked us through the various nature-friendly habitats Conservation Grade® farmers are required to look after when they sign up to grow cereals for the scheme. Highlight of the day was riding around the farm in a trailer full of hay, until it started raining when we all got a good soaking. On the farm we saw hares, lapwings, numerous little birds and of course bees.
